Character Information
Name: Patricia 'Trixie' LulamoonCanon: My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic
OU/AU/CRAU/OC: AU
World info: She's from a somewhat AU version of MLP:FIM. No real major changes aside from her personal history and a few episodes that she appeared in.
History: What I wrote for her personal history is over here. I can add it in here if requested, but it's fairly long.
Basic 'Boast Busters' AU differences is over here, also some rough notes for Magic Duel Differences later on down the line.
Canon point: After a modified version of Boast Busters, maybe by a couple of weeks.
Age: Saying 18 for here.
In canon though, possibly 17-19 ish? Not sure how ages work in MLP to be honest. She seems to be considered young adult/adult enough to live on her own and take care of herself. The main characters always seemed to be somewhat adult to me, or at least close enough. For the most part they seem to be without 'adult' supervision, own their own businesses and live on their own. (There will be no NSFW content with this character, but she could likely drink alcoholic beverages and go to age gated events legally by pony standards if she wanted.)
Personality: She's quiet, reserved, and responsible, even slightly shy, but she's still confident in her work and magic. Her abilities haven't come easy to her and she's had to work hard, spend long hours studying and researching to make things work. If she isn't careful, things tend to blow up and fail on her when it comes to new magic, so it's left her rather self conscious. Magic flares are a bit like having a hiccup and wetting the bed because of it, embarrassing, but something you are supposed to grow out of fast. She hasn't managed to quite get rid of the problem, but by being careful she avoids making it known.
However when something works, she works hard on it so it doesn't fail. She's proud to say nothing she's made and sold so far has ever failed. Mostly because she refuses to sell something until she's sure it's as safe as possible.
Trixie is neither boastful, nor brash, and she often downplays her achievements and accomplishments in order to avoid what she considers bragging.
She tries to make her casting look boring, often one won't even notice she's done the spell due to her 'slight of hoof' and casting when nobody is looking.
Her desire to avoid too much attention can hamper her greatly, and while she's not overly shy, she has problems getting comfortable around new people. Trixie has horrible stage fright and will fight tooth, magic and hoof, to avoid getting on a stage. Even the Princesses would have a real fight trying to get her on one, she hates large crowds that much. Trixie will try and hide invisible for weeks just to avoid any kind of social gathering that she'll be the center of attention. She'll put up with it if it's just a small group of her absolute closest friends, but even then she dislikes it.
AU changes: Trixie is almost opposite of her canon counterpart. She's not brash, loud or prone to bragging. She neither wants/needs to be the center of attention. That's not to say she's not confident, she's... just not a loudmouthed brat.
Capabilities: Trixie is a strong magic user, very strong. She doesn't really think about it though, and honestly thinks herself more average with a strong work ethic. She'd be on par with Twilight pre alicorn transformation, but doesn't ever really go 'full blast' with her magic use. It's not that she can't, she just doesn't feel the need to... Though some of it is a mental block. She doesn't think she's naturally strong and considers it 'showing off' to use large amounts of magic unless it's a real emergency.
She's good at creating spells, making potions and gathering ingredients. She's an alright shopkeeper/trader as that's how she funds herself, but she finds it exhausting at times... She travels all over pulling a wagon that's both her shop and her home, so she's no slouch in the physical stats, but that's more endurance and strength. She'll get in a fight physically if she has to, but she'd get trounced if who/whatever she had to face knew how to fight.
On inter-dimensional travel: She could maybe do it if she had the information to work from, a destination and enough of a power boost/amplifying item. Dimension hopping is canon to MLP, but as far as I'm aware Trixie herself hasn't ever done it. (It may have come up in the comics, but I haven't read those yet.)
Sample: TDM link here, and a more log/story based format below.
Trixie sighed as she pulled her cart out of Ponyville, her feelings mixed as she trotted along the road. They'd been nice enough and even after all the fuss with the children and the Ursa Minor, she'd been treated kindly, but at the same time it was getting uncomfortable to hang around. She'd never say it, but a lot of it was Pinkie Pie's need to throw parties and well, Trixie really didn't want to be the center of attention like that. Friends were nice, but she was feeling overwhelmed and crowded. It seemed like every time she turned around there was someone that wanted to talk to her, and while flattering, it was setting her on edge. She couldn't seem to get even five minuets to herself and it was making her twitchy.
Keeping in touch with Twilight via letters about spell and magical item creation was good, and letters to the others on occasion would be okay. She liked Twilight... and Fluttershy... Honestly she liked them all, but so much attention at once was just a bit much. Trixie couldn't help but chuckle a bit. She managed to avoid a Pinkie Party, but she had enough cake in her cart to last her months. Pinkie Pie was nice, just way too high energy for Trixie to handle, and she hoped that after a few letters that she could try and explain her dislike of big parties without hurting her feelings. A little party with a few ponies could maybe be okay, but Pinkie had seemingly wanted to invite the whole town, and she couldn't handle that.
Even if she wanted to stay, she really couldn't do it long term either. She wandered partly to keep from feeling trapped, but a lot of it was because she gathered most of her magical ingredients herself. Her money came from making and selling potions, ingredients and magical items. Spell creation was fun, but it really didn't pay the bills and she liked potions. Potions got expensive fast if she had to buy everything. Collecting items from one area and selling them in others both made her money and filled her own ingredient store.
She paused as she reached the switch in road surfaces and glanced back towards Ponyville with a bit of a smile. She'd be back sometime, but for the moment she had dirt roads, forests and places not normally traveled to explore. Freedom and adventure were calling, and she was more than happy to answer.
Notes: Her original info sheet as I wrote it is over here. It has more information than here.
